Tax Time

Allow Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union to be a resource for you during Income Tax Time.

• We have been preparing taxes for FREE since 2008.
• You might be eligible for FREE income tax preparation through the VITA program.  
• VITA is the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program of the IRS.

The IRS has established income guidelines for VITA site tax preparation.

Investment Income Must be $3,400 or less for the year.

If you have an appointment with a VITA tax preparer, please bring the following documents, if applicable:

• Social Security Card(s): for you and anyone listed on your return
• Identification: picture ID such as a driver’s license.  If you are married and filing jointly, both spouses must be present
• Income Statements: W-2 forms for jobs held during the tax year, 1099 forms, such as 1099-G, 1099-Misc, 1099-Int
• Education credits & adjustments: If you, your spouse, or a child attended college-tuition expense statement (1098-T) and/or student loan interest)
• Child Credits: child care expenses, provider name, address, tax ID# or SSN# and amount paid
• Itemized Deductions: medical bills paid, charitable contributions, itemized business expenses
• Property Taxes: home interest and property taxes paid, rental information for NYS credit

Additional Documents: any letter or notice you may have received from the IRS, a copy of last year’s return, for a faster refund bring your savings and/or checking account numbers and routing numbers

Do you need help filling out FAFSA forms?  Southern Chautauqua FCU helps with FAFSA forms, too. Call (716) 665-7000 to schedule an appointment. Additionally, we have Certified Acceptance Agents on staff to assist you if you need to file taxes and must submit forms to obtain an ITIN.  

Our agents can verify all documents without the necessity of mailing originals.  We will assist you to file all necessary forms at NO CHARGE.
